Cambridge, MA - 10/20/2000 - The Middle East

my oh my... i cannot believe the week is over. i had been looking forward to
last week for what seems like an eternity- three SDRE shows in one week! be
still my heart!!

well, earlier in the day, i heard the 25 minute radio interview that dan and
jeremy did with storm of WFNX [sponsor's of the concert later that night] and
it was great! they talked about all sorts of things... from where the name
of the band came from to talking about SDRE fans to a little discussion about
the whole break up and getting back together issue... and BIG YAY! because
they both said that there's definitely a future and they're writing songs in
their heads left in right and neither dan nor jeremy see an end to SDRE in
the future... yay yay yay!!

the boston [ok, cambridge- not boston] show was mad packed- much more crowded
than new haven or providence, but i really wasn't all impressed by
everything. first of all- this show was a free show to people who had some
sort of card from the WFNX radio station... so, i'm almost positive that
atleast half of the crowd had never heard or heard OF sunny day [and were
just people who happened to have the card and needed something to do]... and
that kinda annoyed me a little bit, because most of that half also took over
the front of the stage/front of the crowd- so devout fans knowing every word
to every song, such as myself, were pushed way in the back and had to swoon
from afar.... alas, the band's performance was still magical.

i believe they had some technical difficulties ... being a musician myself, i
notice a wrong note more obviously and faster than someone else... and there
were a couple wrong notes, and a few times i'd see dan and the extra
guitarist/keyboardist sharing smiles and laughs after goofing up or having
difficluties... and also, the microphone sound wasn't good in the
beginning... i dunno if it was poor jeremy's voice or just the system, but
the sound at first was kinda scratchy... but then it got better. no matter
what, i still love them.

[side note: i came late so i missed tugboat annie and most of euphone's
set... but the guy at the door, when he took my tiny ticket, asked for my ID,
barely glanced at it and before i had the chance to shove it back in my purse
he had put a yellow band around my wrist.... i'm 19. hehe. i didn't drink
tho, because i didn't want to, but i thought that was wicked funny... a nice
little momento of the night. haha.]

at one point someone yelled to the band, "you guys should relocate here!"
and jeremy was like "where?" and i screamed [with some other people] "HERE!
BOSTON!!!" and he laughed.... and then dan said, "yes, and we'll play shows
every weekend" and the crowd went insane. that would be a fantasy come
true.... then dan said, "if we did that tho, you guys would get so sick of
this song!" and they started to play circles... hehe. i don't think anyone
in their right mind could EVER get sick of THAT song!!! :-) ::sigh::

the set list was the same as tuesday and wednesday's shows, which was
alright... i was a little surprised tho... but to be honest, i've never
really followed any other band in my life to see if other bands play the same
set list night after night... it didn't phase me. the song choices [see
tues/wed's reviews] were wonderful and i was very very sad to say goodbye for
good, because that, for me, was show 3 of 3 that i was able to go to [in new
england]... i'm sure they'll be back, and i won't miss it for the world, but
not soon enough i'm sure...

[another side note: i brought the band a little card i made out of blue
contruction paper (in the shape of a heart... hehe) and gave it to one of the
sweet women working at the table of shirts and CDs (i think it was one of
their girlfriend's or something... but she's always there, i saw her in
boston in july, and then all last week too) who said she'd give it to them
for me. she was very nice... thank you, whoever you are.]

.... i love you guys. and thank you again for making my week magical.
