Charlotte, NC - 10/10/2000 - Tremonts
By Christopher Hayes

- Eupone (sp?) is just not for me. They had some great gee-tar work, but after awhile got pretty repetitive though. The fact that it was all instrmental could have been really cool, but it wasnt. I knew the touring bassist from last tour was this band bassist, but also the guy who played keyboard/3rd guitar/backup vocals from the last tour was too. But he left a lot, and then came back. Is the guy in the band too, or was he just playing around? Pretty dull though.
- I saw a look of shock come across the audience during Pheurton - it sounded like the majority knew what song it was from the beginning, but when the full band kicked in, they didnt know what to think, they looked shocked! Needless to say, the song rocked, and that pretty much set the stae for the rest of the show.
- The setlist was the same from the previously posted ones, only slightly jumbled. In fact, i think the only difference is that they played In Circles towards the middle of the show instead before the encore. Maybe.
- The "Seven" chants were much more annoying at this show compared to the Cats Cradle show earlier this summer. Maybe now that they have played it, people will shut up! Although there was a cool little "Seven...8...song 9" chant towards the front.
- Before they played "In Circles" the keyboardist left and someone to said "Let's have a smoke" in the crowd. Jeremy said that the crowd could probably take the time to have one because *insert keyboard guys name here* seemed to be taking his sweet time. It was strangely quiet as they set up for the next song and someone yelled "Tell us a story". Jeremy asked if anyone was here when they played their last show and said that at that point he never though they would be a band again, but "Here we are". And also said that they planned on being around alot longer this time, or at least until he got mad and beat up Dan. The two of them then talked about who would win in a fight, with a lot of flexing on Dan's part, and ended with Jeremy saying that Dan would probably waste him pretty good. Funny stuff.
- After the show i went to the merch booth. Only a few things different - the blue angel shirt is still the same, only i believe these have the new tour dates on them. The red elephant shirt is a dark green shirt with a little b&w pic of an elephant doing something... didnt look too closely. Also, the had the Angel shirt as a long sleeve red, with just the bands name on the back instead of the tour dates. All four studio albums were available in vinyl and CD (last time they were in NC they only had How it feels and rising tide) . The posters are the same too, only with the new dates, and there is another poster on the back as well. I got a Rising Tide on Vinyl and a Euphone shirt. I didnt really like the new elephant tee, and the Euphone shirt was cool-lookin, so i got it.
Thats aboot it. Just randomly thinking, why does most everyone not like the Rising Tide? I mean, those songs are just amazing in my opinion. It probably ties with Diary as my fave SDRE album (LP2 is awesome too, its shortness length wise probably keeps it from being #1). Refering to an earlier post, my apologies for not remembering who it was right off hand, i can understand "Television" not making someone cry, but songs like "The Ocean" and "Faes in Disguise" are really beautiful too. Not that im arguing with anyones tastes, i mean, you like what you like - but im just curious.
