- The Blue Note

Well, no one posted
about the show at the Blue Note, so I figure I was the
only one on the list who went. Really, all I wanted to say is that I was so
impressed. It was the 3rd time I saw them and it was by far the best.
Highlights for me starting with the greatest:
1. 48. I couldn't believe
it. This has got to be the best song they have
ever played. I have never been rocked like that in my whole life. I almost
lost control of myself.
2. J'nuh. Almost to
the same caliber as 48. It's so intense when they are
jammin it at the end and its just Jeremy and Dan playing the "J'nuh"
riff and
they are just rocking it out. Sunny Day at their best.
3. Pheurton Skeurto.
Holy crap. I was blown away when they opened with
this. Never in a hundred years did I expect to see this live. They turned
a
song that was just Jeremy and a piano into one of the coolest and rockin
songs I've heard from them. And to think they did this so recently...
sigh... I'm drooling for the next album.
4. The Rising Tide.
Probably the only song from the new album that "got"
me.
Like I said, this was
the best live Sunny Day performance I have ever seen.
It was like I got a glimpse of what it was like to see them in 94 or 95.
They played with an intensity like I have never seen. Some of you may
remember the pic of them that was on Brian's site. The one where they are
in
suits and Jeremy looks insane. I got to see that face for the first time.
The passion and emotion that I have been wanting to see for years was there
and now I am happy. :)
The last comment I
have is this: the new songs just do not compare to the
material off diary, lp2 and even hiftbso. Sunny Day is at their best playing
their older material. I tried giving the Rising Tide a chance... (and I keep
trying), but when placed back to back live, it's obvious what their best
songs are. TRT is a great album but it pales in comparison. Oh, I almost
forgot to mention The Prophet... this was so freaking cool. The vocals in
this song blow me away every time.
Well, thats all. I
hope you all get to see them on this tour. This is NOT
one to miss.
