Nashville, TN - 10/7/2000 - 328 Performance Hall

Well, what can I say ...

Myself and two friends drove 4 hours from Atlanta to see this show. Me
and one of my friends are pretty hardcore SDRE fans and the other friend
was just along because we told him it would be a great show. We hung
around Nashville for a while, got some food, checked out the town, but
it was pretty boring.

The club was pretty much a hole in the wall. Nothing fancy at all. A
good-sized anteroom with a small bar and a good place for merch, and the
main room was just a wide open moderately sized room with a stage raised
a few feet. Acoustics weren't bad at all. And it was nicely loud. :)

Anyway ... the show was amazing. More intense than any other show I've
been to, including past SDRE shows. They played 7, 48, Song About an
Angel, In Circles, J'Nuh, Pheurton Skeurto (which is much better live
than on the album), ESTYA, Pillars, The Prophet, 100 Million, and some
of the best tracks off of Rising Tide, like the Ocean, Faces in
Disguise, One, Killed by an Angel, and the title track.

Altogether, they played for about 1:45. It was amazing. I've never
seen them so happy. Jeremy was just out of his mind up there. It was
like he was the only one on stage. And he was way more talkative than
usual.

Some high points: (mostly paraphrased)
After a big round of folks yelling songs ("Bucket of Chicken!" "Red
Elephant!"), Dan says, "I'm glad you remember all our old songs. We're
going to play as many as possible for you tonight."

Dan: "We relearned a lot of songs for this tour. Here's one of them.
It's called Song About an Angel."

Dude in the audience: "You guys are better than sex!"
Dan: "Um ... I don't know about that, dude."

Dan: "We know a lot of you came a long way to see us tonight, and we
appreciate the dedication, so this one is for you guys."
Starts playing The Ocean...

And finally, 2nd song of the encore...
Jeremy: "This is the 7th song we ever wrote..."

As far as emotional points, the Ocean, SAAA, and Seven were just
amazing. Lots of crying, screaming, and stunned happiness in the crowd.

If any of you out there are trying to decide whether to take a road trip
to go see them, just go. It's worth it. They're not going to be in a
lot of cities, obviously, so go however far you have to to see them.

it was a long drive to nashville from charleston wv. especially alone in a
car with my on again off again girlfriend with whom i cannot get along for
more than three or four minutes at a time. aint love grand? well it was
worth it cause we were going to see sunny day. we pulled into nashville
after 8 hours on the road at about 1 am. had a beer. went to sleep. got
up. conversed with some random dude at the hotel about the show that we were
going to: "So what bring you to nashville?"..... "We came to see sunny day
real estate." ..... "Oh, youre going to buy a place here in town?" "its a
band." "Oh." idiot. anyways. we got to the 328 performance hall at
about 7:30pm and saw ufone play. or is it uphone? or youfone? oh well.
they were good. then they were done. after about 25 minutes, william
goldsmith came to the stage and the place went mad. next came the singer.
(some of my letters on here wont type and one of them is the one that the
singers name begins with. but if it helps it is the letter between i and....
well that one wont either. so the two letters between I and L..... anyway i
will spell it as best i can with this piece of shit eyboard. see? you'll
have to figure the rest out.) so eremy enig was next on stage and the
bassist and greg the utility guy. and they started playing really softly and
eremy sang some. then dan came out onstage and they blew up!! they played a
hell of a lot of tunes. from diary right up to rising tide. highlights
included "song about an angel" "seven" "in circles" and "-illed by an
angel". they were very energetic and played their guts out. once, when
things got quiet between songs, i yelled, "hey -eremy, smile!" so i could
get a snapsot. he stared dead at me and gave me a shit eating grin. i got
lots of great photos of the whole band. afterwards we tal-ed to them at the
bus. and got them to sign some stuff for us and got our photos ta-en with
all of them. i spo-e to eremy the longest. he was very very sweet and
welcoming. and very appreciative that we drove so far to see them. william
was wonderful!! he was quite funny and very nice to us. dan was very warm.
the type of guy who is actually interested in what you say. he inquired as
to how our trip was and told us to come and say hi again when we see them in
pittsburg, cinncinnati, columbus, charlottesville, and norfol-. when we
left all three of them made sure to tell us to be safe on our way. and it
sounds wierd,..... i could tell they actually meant it. they are very humble
and sweet. we had a great time and i suggest everyone go out to the shows.
i have seen the stones, and elton -ohn and billy -oel, aerosmith, pantera,
white zombie, fugazi, weezer, teenage fan club, van halen, tori amos, fiona
apple, ozzy, sepultura, danzig, and on and on and on..... but this was,
honest to god, the best show ive ever seen. i have SDRE to than- for a night
i will never forget.
PS, sorry about my shitty -eyboard.
