Old Bridge, NJ - 10/16/2000 - Birch Hill
By Chris Denley

FINALLY, SDRE hits the Garden State. For once I did not have to travel to NY or PA, only a 15 minute drive. I got there pretty early. Sunny Day played ESTYA, The Ocean, and Guitar and Video Games for the sound check (they sounded amazing as always). Jersey is a very trendy state, lots of high school kids....so I wasn't really sure what the response would be like. It turned out great, it took awhile for the crowd to get into it though. Phuerton was phenominal, just amazing. As soon as I heard the piano, I got goosebumps. The end when the whole band kicks in made me speechless. They pretty much played the same set as the rest of the tour. During 8, Jeremy yelled STOP, right before the "SWEET CLOVER" part and the band stopped playing. Will stood up on his drum kit, and looked into the crowd. Two kids were fighting...FIGURES ever show in Jersey I go to a fight breaks out. As the kids were dragged out, Dan said "WE"RE SUNNY DAY, WE"RE ABOUT LOVE, MAN." The crowd went wild after that. Dan then said "We're gonna have to start that one over." Phenominal....as always. It was great to hear the old songs. A guy to my left kept shouting SEVEN throughout the whole show. Finally, right after he shouted it again, DAN SAID "Seven, is that what you want to hear." Something to that affect, and they busted into it...phenominal. All in all it was an amazing show from SDRE. Probably the best I have seen them play. Jeremy smiled a few times. At the end of the RISING TIDE, when they were jamming Jeremy was hitting the end of Will's symbols with the end of his guitar. If there was a low point, and I don't know if those are the right words. Is that the did not play Disappear or Snibe, those two are great in concert. When are the going to play RAIN SONG. I have been waiting for it. Anyways, this is getting tremendously long. Sorry if I am ramblinb on. All in all SDRE ROCKED THE BIRCH HILL ON OCT. 16.

Peace, love, serenity,
CHRIS
