Phoenix, AZ - Bostons - 7/23/2000

Sunny Day Real Estate. What can be said? Well i probably have the lucky distinction of being the only fan to see the band in Athens and Phoenix this tour. i can't really compare the two, because i would be the only one who knows what i'm talking about. But, i must say the Athens show rocked (in more ways than one;) and i was a bit disappointed in the Phoenix crowd. They didn't really get into the show until near the end. Oh well. Because it was outside and hot as hell, it's possible it was the heat that kept them subdued. At one point "Mel" the roadie came on to do something and Will started shouting how it was his birthday and the crowd should sing to him. Then Jeremy smiled and said, "It's not really his birthday, Will is just getting a little nuts back here, i think he's getting dehydrated". Jeremy also said his dad was at the show, and that he was happy to have him there. Jeremy seemed to be very intense the whole night, more so than previous shows i'd seen. Of course he did the usual speaking/singing to himself when rocking out, which i love…and he did a lot of crazy head shaking. Dan was awesome as ever. He just ROCKS! Enough said. After the show, my friend Robert and i went over to the bus and found Jeremy and the keyboard player (forgot his name, sorry dude!). Anyway, we spoke briefly and got pictures. i asked if they'd be touring again in a few months and he said he wasn't sure, they would just have to wait and see. He also said it was great to have his dad at the show. i thanked him very much and we left. He was very gracious and i didn't want to seem too intrusive. Another great show by the greatest band to grace my ears. Thanks for reading.
